BIAD Open Days commence at 11 am and close at 4 pm.
Located over four sites in a city which is a home to a culturally diverse and vibrant arts scene, BIAD (Birmingham Institute of Art and Design) is one of the largest centres for art, architecture and design education in the UK. BIAD provides a stimulating environment in which to study - helping thousands of people make it in the creative world.
Open Days offer you the opportunity to find out what student life is really like at BIAD. You can ask staff and students questions about your subject course - visit our learning facilities, and get a real feel for what it is like living and learning at BIAD.
If you are an applicant you are also invited to attend our Open Days - this will give you a closer look at your course, enabling you to make your decision to study with us.
BIAD Sites
School of Art, Margaret Street can be found in a magnificent Grade I listed building, located in the city's gallery and museum district. With its stained glass windows, gothic style doors and mosaic tiled floors many have been seduced by this buildings beauty. The impressive facilities, along with various arts in residence, offer an invaluable learning resource for fine art education.
School of Art, Bournville is located in the idyllic setting of the Bournville Village Trust conservation area, four miles south of the city centre. The centres two listed buildings offer a vast range of high quality facilities. Our Art and Design Foundation course and the highly flexible BA (Hons) Visual Arts by Negotiated Study course can be found here.
School of Jewellery, Vittoria Street is an award winning institution based in the heart of Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter since 1890. The building is a fusion of traditional and modern architecture, which is filled with natural light, creating a perfect space to exhibit the jewellery, silversmithing, horology and gemmology produced by its students.
Gosta Green is the largest BIAD campus and is just a five minute walk from the city centre. Here you will find the School of Fashion, Textiles and Three Dimensional Design, School of Visual Communication, and the School of Architecture. The site has its own gallery space for exhibitions, digital and traditional photographic facilities, studios, editing suits, an animation suite, a theatre, fashion workshops, textile area, equipped for both traditional and digital technologies. There is also a comprehensive range of tools and machinery housed in the wood and metal workshops for the area of product and interior design.
