The Virtual Gallery of Contemporary Fine Metalwork is an interactive DVD-ROM providing copious information and a splendid exhibition of outstanding international contemporary fine metalwork. The VGCFM is a Research project of Birmingham City University's Institute of Art and Design, following the success of the Virtual Gallery of Contemporary Jewellery. Developed by the University's User-lab and Prof. Kenneth Quickenden (head of the Institute's School of Theoretical and Historical Studies), the project has also benefited from the participation and input of world reknowned designers, makers, teachers, academics, critics, curators and researchers in the field of fine metalwork. The DVD-ROM is intended for use as an educational and research tool, as well as a general encyclopedic resource collating and documenting contemporary makers and practices in fine metalwork. |
