What's in it?
GalleryThe DVD contains images and details of 422 pieces of fine metalwork, by over 90 international designer / makers. The gallery can be organised in broad categories such as Trophy, Sculpture or Tableware, or searched in more detail according to the maker's name, country, and materials and techniques used in the piece. Many pieces are also illustrated with video clips of the artists discussing the work, or comments from gallery owners, curators, critics and gallery visitors. |

InterviewsThe DVD offers 22 interactive video interviews with teachers and designer / makers from around the world. e.g. Germany, UK, USA, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Hungary. Text transcriptions appear alongside each video. |

EssaysFive interactive essays cover key areas of fine metalwork: An Overview; An Outward Gaze (considering the impact of outside influences such as art, design and the environment on fine metalwork); Materials; Techniques; Types of works. Each essay is richly illustrated with contextual images, video clips and footnotes. Further to this, A4 PDF versions of the essays are also available on the DVD, for those wishing to print and read at a later date. The DVD also contains an extensive Glossary and Bibliography of terms. |
