On July 20th, the Visualisation Research Unit hosted a Methods Network sponsored workshop at the historic Margaret Street site of the Department of Art at the University of Central England in Birmingham.
The workshop was the culmination of a research process begun some time before, with work developed in the previous three months and worked on during a week-long intensive by the Research Team. The programme included a presentation on e-Science in the Arts, an AccessGrid link up with the National e-Science Centre in Edinburgh, and the presentation and discussion of the creative work of the team. The two main projects presented were Gregory Sporton's Collaborative Drawing through movement (research done with Carla Wright), and the collaborative work devised by Matt Gough, Jonathan Green, Keir Williams and Suzanne Grubham. Images, details and resources developed by the workshops are linked below, together with a link to the Digital Arts & Humanities discussion board, where you can read and contribute to the commentary and conversations that have emerged from the day. The workshop will result in further seminars and papers based on the activities .

- Pictures are being posted on Flickr in the Collaborative Art group.
- The 'flow' diagram of collaboration and data for didahbit is available as a jpeg and is also at the bottom of this page.
- Jonathan Green recorded the afternoon discussion and is available as an mp3 (about 1 hour long and 52MB in size).
- Jonathan has also edited a 4 minute segment of the audio from ditdahbit. This is available as an enhanced m4a file with images from the Flickr pool. QuickTime player or iTunes will show the images.
- Gregory Sporton's presentation e-Science in the Arts is also available as a PowerPoint slideshow, a PDF document and as a Flash presentation

The following two short videos are created from the still images shot by Keir Williams of Suzanne Grubham during experiments and performance of ditdahbit. The stills were then incorporated into the visual collages presented on the screens.
